So new mission…

To paint a mural on an 8 year olds bedroom wall, I have started the task with my good friend Kate, our biggest challenge yet!

He wanted a pond scene and has a particular interest in reptiles and creepy crawlies but we wanted to ensure the painting could grow up with him.

Wish us luck!!

as the house is quite old and the walls are all lovely and wonky we started by priming the wall with white emulsion using inspiration from Zack's nature books and illustrated story books, especially 'Alice in Wonderland'. from which kate did the most amazing spotted mushrooms.

my new mission of today is to produce an invite for a 2 year olds birthday party for a good friend of mine. i have found this a really enjoyable challenge as it is not really something i have done before.
henry is obsessed with jcb diggers so i started with d
oing some simple line drawings of good ol' jcb diggers...

one of the requests was to keep colour blocking to a minimum due to printing costs. i wanted to keep my style in the invites whilst having henry's personality with fun happy font.
i kept to primary colours but made focus on the classic jcb yellow and included a fun photo of henry.
i went for graph paper in the background to break up the plain background and give a bit more of a 'boyish' theme.

i did two designs with the same imagery which i think worked really well, (obviously ive blocked out the party details as we don't want a rave turning up at the party!)

new designers

Well I have just got back from New Designers in London and it has been an absolutely fantastic week! My cards featuring my dog illustrations and hidden pop-ups had quite a bit of interest, which I was so pleased about. At first I only kept them in my portfolio but liv persuaded me to put them out in my show so I was lucky she did!

Staffs uni in general got a great deal of interest as a whole so fingers crossed we all go on to long and happy careers!

Staffs uni Surface Pattern degree show

Last week was our degree show and it was fantastic, some of my friends got a bit of interest and even managed to sell some of their work, which is very exciting!

We all manned the show in shifts, which was great to see visitors admire all the work as well spending time with friends while we kept an eye on things.

I think there is some brilliant work in the show so I thought id feature some of my own and other peoples work and show you what you have missed out on seeing! Below is work from Lisa Hart, Olivia Turner and Chloe Georgina Foster.
